Installing Your Raindrip System

In this section you’ll find two sets of installation instructions, one for each of the two types of setups describe in Step 1 of Planning Your Raindrip System.

Installation for basic setup

  1. Attach the hose thread anti-syphon to the faucet or valve using a simple screw on method.
  2. Attach the pressure regulator to the anti-syphon in the same way.
  3. Attach the swivel adapter to the pressure regulator in the same way.
  4. Attach the mainline hose into the open end of the adapter by simply pushing the end into the opening on the adapter.
  5. Layout the mainline on the ground as your design shows, making sure the line leads to the farthest plant away from the faucet or water source.
  6. Attach the end cap to the open end of the mainline with a simple pushing motion.
  7. Emitters and/or feeder lines can now be inserted or attached to the mainline:
  • Emitters can be inserted directly by punching a hole in the mainline with the hole punch, then inserting the chosen emitter
  • ¼” feeder lines can be attached to the mainline and “branched” out to surrounding areas. Simply punch a hole in the mainline with a hole punch, insert a connector, tee, cross, or wye, then attach the desired ¼” tubing. Cut the ¼” tubing to the desired length, insert emitters into the open end of the ¼” tubing, and place where needed. Use stakes to hold the tubing and emitters in place.

Installation for setup with Timer

  1. Attach the Timer to the faucet or valve using a simple screw on method.
  2. Attach the anti-syphon to the timer in the same way.
  3. Attach the swivel coupling to the anti-syphon.
  4. Attach the filter to the swivel coupling.
  5. Attach the pressure regulator to the filter.
  6. Attach the main line hose into the open end of the adapter by simply pushing the end into the opening.
  7. Layout the main line on the ground as your design shows, making sure the line leads to the farthest plant away from the faucet or water source.
  8. Attach the end cap to the open end of the hose.

      10. Follow the instructions for setting the timer.

Finishing Up

Once you’ve followed the above steps to install your system, you’re ready to flush the system. Do this by turning on the faucet to flush out any dirt that might have gotten into the line during installation. Continue to flush until the water runs clear.

NOTE: For sprinklers and jets, allow water to spout from sprinkler outlets, then turn off the water and reinstall sprinklers and jets.

Flush your system before use to ensure there is no dirt in the tubing.

With the water still running, close off the ends of the ½” hose and ½” Drip-A-Long lines (if used) using a ½” hose end clamp or a ½” compression end cap & plug. Close off ¼” tubing and ¼” Drip-A-Long lines with ¼” tubing end clamps.

You have now completed your drip watering system.  Use any of the Raindrip parts, pieces or accessories to change, expand or customize your drip irrigation system. Sit back and enjoy your new landscape.

Remember, there are many other watering options available, including Sprinklers, Jets, Bubblers, Stake assemblies, Multiplex dripper manifolds, Conversion, Sprinkler Tap-off, and many combinations and variations of these.

Also newly available is the Simple Drip product that makes setting up a drip system even easier for the experienced or new user – to learn more, just visit the SimpleDrip section of our website.
