| What is a "Smart" Controller? |
|
A smart controller so named because it is considered “smarter” than a regular watering timer.
What makes it “smart”? With a regular water timer, you must program in the watering cycle according to certain days, times, length of watering and area to be watered. Therefore, you are telling the timer when, where, and for how long to water your landscape based on your best knowledge and experience.
With a smart controller, you plug in your zipcode, then (similar to the regular timer) you program in the watering cycle according to certain days, times, length of watering and area to be watered… but it doesn’t end there. The smart controller then adjusts this schedule based on historic weather patterns for your zipcode.
What are the benefits of smart controllers?
By automatically adjusting your watering schedule based on the weather, a smart controller does not overwater or underwater your plants. This means plants are healthier and look more attractive. In addition to this, smart controllers save more water than regular controllers as the majority of consumers overwater their plants without ever realizing it.
